Hit and run crash in Florida kills woman in wheelchair
Most Miami drivers understand how important it is to always be aware of their surroundings, including pedestrians, when they are driving. There can be lots of obstacles on the roadway, so paying attention is very important. Recently, a woman was killed by a hit and run driver while she was in her wheelchair.
The woman was hit and killed in Little Haiti. The woman, age 83, was in the intersection of 62nd Street and NE Second Avenue where she was hit by a dark, four-door vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Miami detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
No one expects their loved one will be the victim of a serious car accident. Unfortunately, these accidents affect hundreds of families each year in Florida and across the United States. The victim is often a beloved family member, a breadwinner and someone who is dearly missed. If a family finds themselves affected by a fatal car accident, they may want to speak with a personal injury attorney. An attorney can research the cause of the accident, which may help grieving family members better understand the situation. An attorney can visit the accident scene and interview witnesses, review police reports and help determine if there is someone responsible for the crash. Compensation may be sought for medical expenses, funeral expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.
Families who are affected by a negligent driver have legal rights. A personal injury attorney can assist a family during this traumatic time and help the family start a new life without their loved one.
