If a person was issued a U.S. work permit using form I-589, they may be asked to give them back. A printing mistake was made for those who were issued these cards in April and May and affect mostly workers who petitioned for political asylum and affected around 800 workers. Affected workers will receive new cards within a few weeks. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) states that these workers are still authorized to work in the U.S. This is the second recall in six weeks when over 8500 green cards were recalled in May because of incorrect dates.
